Derick Williamson, Head Coach and owner, Durata Training

Derick WilliamsonDerick holds a master’s degree in Sports Science and Nutrition from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as an undergraduate degree in Health Promotion and minor in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. He also has his USAC Level 1 coaching certification (USAC’s highest level) and is USAC Power Coaching Certified.
As an NCAA Division I runner Derick earned all-conference honors. Additionally, in recognition of both his academic and athletic achievements, Derick received a distinguished NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship.
Coaching professionally since 2003 Derick’s athletes have achieved a multitude of significant results including multiple professional Ironman and Half Ironman wins, ITU Paralympic World Champion, Rock N’ Roll and other national caliber marathon/half marathon wins, Masters National Cycling Champions, Olympic Marathon Trials qualifiers, Ironman World Championship age group and professional qualifiers, age-group triathlon champions and many others!
Derick is heavily involved in USA Cycling’s coaching education curriculum teaching the Level 2 clinics around the country. Additionally he works closely with USA Triathlon’s Collegiate Recruitment Program (CRP) as the lead cycling coach for their developmental camps.
In 2012 Derick helped found the first-ever Team Red, White and Blue Triathlon camp in Austin, TX. Team RWB’s mission “is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity”, and Derick continues to work in that vein as the head coach for Team RWB’s annual tri camp as it grows and positively impacts the lives of our service men and women.

Brad Williams, Pro Triathlete & Coach at KIS Coaching

Brad WilliamsBrad is the former Triathlon Team Director for Team RWB, and is racing as a professional triathlete. He was responsible for the development of the triathlon team, including recruiting new members and initiating and maintaining relationships with the team’s sponsors. Almost immediately after graduating high school, Brad began his career in the U.S. Air Force. He served 10 years on active duty. Brad was stationed in North Carolina, South Korea, Turkey, Texas, and deployed to Afghanistan.
Brad started endurance sports back in 2008 by competing in a sprint triathlon. From there he raced everything from 5Ks to marathons to Olympic Distance races in 2008. Brad has competed at the IronMan World Championships four times, placing 6th in his age group and 66th Overall in 2013. In August 2016, Brad won IRONMAN 70.3 Chungju, Korea and competed at the 70.3 World Championships. Brad is 100% focused on racing as a full time professional triathlete in 2016 and continuing to work with Team Red, White, and Blue supporting our nation's Veterans.

Jessica Jones Meyers, Pro Triathlete

Jessica Jones MeyersJessica is a 3-time 70.3 Champion and multiple Ironman and 70.3 podium finisher. She also served as a Paralympic guide in the 2016 Rio games in triathlon. However, her proudest accomplishment is being mom to her twins, Rowan and Gwyn. Before turning pro, Jessica graduated from West Point and served as an engineer officer in the U.S. Army, including a 14 month deployment to Iraq. She joined Team RWB in 2010 and has proudly been an ambassador since! Jess is considered a true inspiration by our athletes AND volunteers!

Kelly Handel Williamson, Pro Triathlete

Kelly WilliamsonKelly Handel Williamson has been competing as a professional triathlete for 14 years. She started her career living at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, racing ITU events where she had early success being named USAT Elite Rookie of the year in 2002, winning Pan American Champs and qualifying for World Champs. Over the next few years, her heart led her away from short course racing and along with a move to Austin, Texas she began to pursue longer distances. Some of Kelly's accomplishments include 10 wins in the half Ironman distance, along with 2nd at 70.3 World Championships in 2012. She is 3x Austin 3M Half Marathon champion (with a best time of 1:14) and 2014 Ironman Texas champion in a time of 8:54, running a 2:54 marathon.
Kelly grew up in Indiana, spending all of her waking spare time in a pool. This passion for swimming took her to University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, competing for the Fighting Illini while she earned a degree in Kinesiology. In addition to racing, Kelly has coached athletes of all levels and abilities since 2005. She enjoys speaking to groups about triathlon and sport, and writing about her experiences; both the ups and downs. Kelly is passionate about the positive impact exercise and goal setting can have on oneself.


Briana Roehling, Assistant Coach and Co-Coordinator

Briana RoehlingBriana is a multiple Ironman finisher and long-time marathon runner. She is the owner of Seigga Multisport and an instructor with Texas Fit Chicks. Briana is also an IRONMAN Certified Coach, a USAT-certified Coach, RRCA-certified run coach, ACE Personal Trainer, certified Spinning Instructor, and 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, teaching for a number of corporations in the Austin area. She carries multiple certifications in Fitness and Sports Nutrition, Yoga for Athletes, Yoga for Warriors, and ACE Triathlon Injury Prevention. Along with leading multiple run groups, designing run and triathlon training plans, and helping athletes prepare for competition, Briana is currently pursuing her desire to complete a marathon in every state.

Ryan McCready, Assistant Coach

Ryan McCreadyRyan was born and raised in Dublin, Ohio. After graduating from high school and working various jobs for a few years, he enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy he was stationed at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station in Oak Harbor, Washington and was deployed aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Upon his honorable discharge, he utilized his GI Bill and earned his degree in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Mississippi. During his time in Oxford, he competed in his first multisport events. After several years of being a true student of the sport, Ryan began coaching triathletes. In 2014 he became a USAT-certified coach. He has now moved from central Ohio to Clermont, Florida where he trains and coaches full time with AJ Baucco Coaching.

Mark Sortino, Assistant Coach

Mark SortinoMark Sortino is a USA Triathlon Level III Coach, USA Cycling Level II Coach, F.I.S.T. certified bike fitter and certified USAT Race Director who has been the Head Coach of Team USA Paratriathlon since 2012. Mark has coached National and World Champion ITU Paratriathletes along with Ironman 70.3 and Ironman World Championship qualifiers. Additionally Mark has been the Head Coach for all of the USA Paratriathlon High Performance Camps. Mark is a 16-time Ironman including 3-time Kona finisher and is the co-founder and CEO of Team MPI (Multisport Performance Institute) - a triathlon company providing a diverse spectrum of services designed for beginner to elite level triathletes through individual coaching, camps, clinics and event production. Mark Turner, Assistant Coach

Mark TurnerMark Turner is owner of TR4U Performance Coaching. He is part of both the Team RWB and USMES Coaching programs. He is a USAT-certified Coach and USAT-certified Rules Official, as well as a certified member of Ben Greenfield's Super Human Coach Network. He has trained at Gallup University in Strengths Based Performance Coaching. Mark is an avid practitioner of Agile planning and organization techniques and seeks ways of incorporating that management technique into the organizational and time management component of his coaching protocols. In addition to his current certifications, and those he is in the process of pursuing, Mark holds degrees in both Political Science and Theology. His coaching philosophy is one of seeking balance in Mind, Body, and Spirit. He is a four-time Ironman 70.3 Finisher and a two-time Ironman finisher (currently training for numbers five and six 70.3 and number three 140.6 at IMTX 2015). Kyle Fredrickson, Team RWB National Triathlon Director

Kyle FredricksonKyle is an active duty Blackhawk pilot for the Army and the current Triathlon Team Director for Team RWB. Having swam competitively for most of his childhood and running a handful of marathons in college, triathlons were the natural next step for Kyle. After his first race, he fell in love with the positive and welcoming atmosphere at triathlons. Now Kyle works as the National Triathlon Director to grow the sport of triathlon within Team RWB. He believes Team RWB’s focus on community is important and works to use triathlons to further that focus. As the Triathlon Director, Kyle also builds and maintains relationships with coaches and other organizations that believe in Team RWB’s mission.

Patrick Hight, Austin Tri Camp Co-Coordinator

Patrick HightMilitary brat, two-time cardiac survivor and two-time Ironman finisher, Patrick is a USAT-certified Coach, USAT-Certified Race Director, USAT-Certified Youth Race Director, founder of a non-profit fighting against heart disease and cancer, owner of People-Powered Sports, presenting multiple events in the central Texas area, and an avid-but-not-fast cyclist, having completed 50-plus century rides since starting in 2007. Patrick's mission for 2017 is to develop Para Athlete Sports, LLC, a non-profit supporting para athletes.
